‘Kuch Toh Log Kahenge...’ Karan Johar on Backlash Against Nadaaniyan Starring Khushi Kapoor and Ibrahim Ali Khan
Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's second son Ibrahim Ali Khan debut film 'Nadaaniyan' got released on last Friday on Netflix. Fans had a high hope as Ibrahim who is exact copy of his father in terms of looks was not able to impress audience when it came to acting. Meanwhile Janhvai Kapoor's younger sister Khushi Kapoor also faced significant trolling for her acting skills. Both couples got trolled on social media, where users wished to unsubscribe Netflix. Producer Karan Johar who is a close friend of both parents' relatives has reacted to the online trolling faced by both newcomers.
Karan Johar defended the actors of his film "Nadaaniyan" against harsh reviews and trolling at the trailer launch of Gippy Grewal's "Akaal." Presenting the Hindi version of the film, Johar addressed criticism directed at debutants Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor, quoting Rajesh Khanna's song about ignoring naysayers. He condemned "nameless" trolls and criticized certain critics for their excessively "harsh and violent" reviews. Johar stated his relationship with critics remains consistent, irrespective of their reviews. He expressed hurt at reading articles with aggressive language, emphasizing the impact of such writing on the actors and their families.
Johar specifically objected to phrases like "I want to kick this film," arguing that such violent language reflects poorly on the critic, not the film itself. He advocated for compassionate and competitive criticism, condemning the use of violent language as a form of violence itself.
