The UP Police in a scuffle with notorious gangster Vikas Dubey killed him after he tried to escape after a road accident while being taken to Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.Dubey was on the run since July 3 after he and his men ambushed and killed the eight policemen out to arrest him in his Bikru village. After the news of his death went viral and after the fugutive gangster became a hot topic in political circles, filmmakers tried to cash in by announcing a biopic on the deceased criminal.
Producer Sandip Kapur confirmed the news to indianexpress.com that a movie on Dubey is in the works. Kapur added,we are in talks with Manoj Bajpayee, but we haven’t signed papers. He has asked us to work on the film’s script. As you know, he only takes up a project if he is convinced with the script, the story and the character he has to portray. So once we have fixed everything, we will approach him and would want him to be a part of this film.”
However, the Satya actor has denied news reports about him playing gangster Vikas Dubey in a film. He took to Twitter to clarify his stand.“Wrong news,” he wrote, retweeting a news item about the movie. Manoj’s fans thanked him for clarifying the rumours. “Thank you; day was rough as it is,” wrote one. “Hadd ho gayi,” wrote another. Manoj was last seen in Bhonsle which released on Sony LIV. Set in Mumbai, the Devashish Makhija-directed feature narrates the story of a retired police constable, played by Manoj, who tries to help migrants fight against local politicians.
