Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee's daughter Payal Sinha passed away after prolonged illness since the past couple of years. Payal was suffering from juvenile diabetes and was in a comatose condition. The yesteryear actress went through a bitter court room battle with her daughter's husband and in-laws over her daughter's medical treatment and visiting rights.

Moushmi and her husband Jayant had filed a petition in Bombay High Court requesting them to be guardians of their ill daughter because they alleged that Payal's husband Dicky ignored their daughter's health. Some of the prominent Bollywood personalities expressed their greif on social media. Actor Tusshar Kapoor wrote, "Saddened to hear the sad demise of Payal Chatterjee! Have seen her a lot in my childhood days! Deepest condolences to Moushmi Chatterjee ji and family."
