Narcotics Control Bureau, Mumbai is conducting a search for Sushant Singh Rajput's friend, assistant director Rishikesh Pawar who has been absconding since Thursday. He was summoned to appear before the agency, in connection with a drugs case.

Pawar, is said to have handled delivery of drugs to Rajput in his last days. He had moved court seeking anticipatory bail fearing arrest. On Thursday, special NDPS court Judge V Vidwans rejected his application. Pawar reportedly worked with Rajput for a while but was fired last year for reasons that are not known.

“We wanted to question him about the drugs angle from the very beginning but he was non-cooperative and had refused to come in for questioning despite being issued summons. This further strengthened our suspicion about his role in the case,” said an NCB official. Though Pawar was fired, he continued to visit Sushant, said NCB officials, adding they want to interrogate him about it.

After the death of Rajput on June 14, the NCB launched a probe into alleged use of drugs in the film industry and made multiple arrests.
