Raj Kaushal's final hours: Filmmaker was feeling uneasy before his death

Actress Mandira Bedi lost her husband Raj Kaushal, a filmmaker, on Wednesday morning. Kaushal's sudden demise shocked the entire film fraternity. On Sunday, the director  was fine when he socialised with Zaheer Khan, Sagarika Ghatge, Ashish Chaudhary, Samita Bangargi, Neha Dhupia, and Angad Bedi. It was on Tuesday evening that his health began to worsen. Now,  Sulaiman Merchant who in a exclusive interview to ETimes has revealed what exactly happened on the fateful night before the filmmaker's death. Salim said, Raj was feeling uneasy in the evening, Continuing further he said, Raj later took an antacid tablet, however, time passed by and around 4 am, Raj felt more uneasy. 

 Sulaiman, said, Raj told Mandira that he was getting a heart attack. Mandira acted swiftly and called Ashish Chaudhary, who rushed to their place. Mandira and Ashish put him in the car but he was losing consciousness. I think they drove off, taking him to the Lilavati Hospital if I'm not wrong. But in the next 5-10 minutes, they realised that he had no pulse. Before they reached the doctor, it was too late."Sulaiman further informed that Raj had suffered a heart attack once before too. "I think he was 30-32 then. But they took a lot of care after that attack, and he'd kept fine since then."

Raj Kaushal is survived by his wife Mandira Bedi, son Vir and daughter Tara. The writer-director-producer helmed three films in his career – Pyaar Mein Kabhie Kabhie, Shaadi Ka Ladoo and Anthony Kaun Hai. He started his career as a copywriter. In films, he started with assisting Mukul Anand, including Subhash Ghai’s Trimurti. He started his own advertising production company in 1998 and went on to direct over 800 commercials. Mandira and Raj married in 1999. They welcomed son Vir in 2011 and adopted 4-year-old daughter Tara last year.
