Veteran actor Rajinikanth chose not to comment when asked about Vijay becoming the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The actor was spotted at Chennai airport on Tuesday, where his brief interaction with the media quickly gained attention on social media. In a video shared online, Rajinikanth was seen arriving at the airport amid heavy media presence. When reporters questioned him about Vijay’s political victory and swearing-in ceremony as Chief Minister, the superstar smiled, folded his hands and walked away without making any statement.

Although Rajinikanth remained silent this time, he had earlier congratulated Vijay and his party after the Tamil Nadu Assembly election results were announced on May 4. In a message shared publicly, Rajinikanth congratulated Vijay, president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and party members for their “resounding victory” in the Assembly elections.
“My congratulations to Thiru Vijay, President of the victorious Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, and to the members of his party, on their resounding victory in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections,” he wrote.
C. Joseph Vijay, took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10 during a ceremony held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. His party, TVK secured 108 seats in its debut Assembly election and later received the support of 120 MLAs in the 234-member Assembly, comfortably crossing the majority mark.
Soon after assuming office, Vijay announced a major decision directing authorities to shut down more than 700 liquor shops located near educational institutions and temples across the state within two weeks.
On the professional front, Rajinikanth was last seen in Coolie. He is next expected to appear in Jailer 2 and another upcoming project alongside Kamal Haasan.
