Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi has been charged for violating the traffic rules after a video posted on social media showed him riding the bike without a helmet on the night of February 14. Taking cognizance, the Santacruz traffic police issued an e-challan to Oberoi of Rs 500 for not wearing a helmet. The action was taken after the traffic police came across the video on social media. The e-challan was issued to the actor on Friday at around 7.02 pm by assistant inspector Nandkishore Jadhav from the Santacruz Traffic police division.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Western Traffic) Somnath Gharge confirmed the e-challan issued to the actor after the Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) took cognizance of the matter. Meanwhile, the actor was also found in the video violating the pandemic prohibitory orders that have been imposed by the Government. “The actor violated the traffic rules for riding without a helmet. He was also found not wearing a mask,” said the police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IX) Abhishek Trimukhe said they are in the process of registering a case against the actor for violating the pandemic prohibitory order after he was found riding the bike without a mask.
