Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff-starrer "War" has been running strong even in its fourth week, and has far surpassed the Rs 300-crore mark. Commenting on its success, actor Ashutosh Rana, who has played Colonel Luthra in the film, said it is a classic appealing to both masses and classes.

"Everyone desires to watch a good film. We should view the success of the film not in terms of the amount it collected on Box Office but the amount of people who watch it and appreciate it, which is very fulfilling and satisfying. There's a global economic slump, and people hardly watch two out of 10 films in such a case. 'War' being part of those films is a matter of pride.

"A film's success is tested by how many times people watch it. A classic film is for the masses and classes, and 'War' is one," Rana told life about this Siddharth Anand-creation.

Rana, 51, has also entered the web space with a Hindi period series on Aurangzeb, and will soon be seen in a Telugu one alongside Hansika Motwani.

His thoughts on the medium?

"Whether it is web or television or cinema or theatre - I see them as a medium and platform for a performer. With theatre, your performance is limited to a certain number of eyeballs, but web gives it mass visibility. Web is really what you call 'karlo dunia mutthi mein'."

On the regional entering the web space, Rana says that he does not see 'content' as per region, and it's just a matter of language.

"The language of a German or Japanese film does not stop it from travelling across boundaries. With web, it is break the barrier of language and connect with the larger world," he said.

The 1994 National School of Drama (NSD) graduate also credits much of his success to the theatre school. "The root of all of my acting journey lies in NSD".

Rana will also be seen in Dharma Productions' "Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship", releasing next February.
