Los Angeles [US], December 7 : Hollywood actor Vin Diesel penned a heartfelt note for the legendary Michael Caine, days after he presented 'The Dark Knight' star with an honorary award at the Red Sea Film Festival.

Taking to Instagram, Vin Diesel reflected on the moment and wrote, "The world saw me hand you a Lifetime Achievement Award this week. Your Wife, daughters and grandchildren watching. What they didn't see was everything else."

Diesel opened up about how Michael Caine helped him to carry his fame and wrote, "When we first met, I was drowning in a fame I never learned to carry. You taught me grace. Resolve. How to stand in my light when I didn't know how."

"Twelve years ago, I lost someone I was not ready to lose... that the world was not ready to lose. You were there... not with words, but with purpose. You allowed for me to play Kaulder. When mortality had its grip on my life, you brought immortality. The Last Witch Hunter wasn't just a film, It was my resurrection. Your wife lovely Shakira embraced mine, your family became my family. This summer, three years after retiring, you came back. The words you spoke in character transcended film... like a gift of wisdom," he added.

The 'Fast & Furious' actor got emotional as he revealed when Caine introduced him as his "son" in the presence of Hollywood icons like Christopher Nolan, Sidney Poitier, and others.

"We're just two kids from nothing, dreamers who became something. You said I speak to the world, but Michael... you speak to eternity. I love you. Forever," he concluded.

At the fifth edition of Saudi Arabia's Red Sea Film Festival, Vin Diesel wheeled the British actor onto the red carpet, where they warmly posed for pictures. Taking to the stage, Diesel also presented Caine with his honouree prize.

"Tonight is more special for me personally because I've been asked to recognise someone who you all know as one of the best actors who's ever lived. He's been somebody that, as Uma Thurman said, could play character roles or main roles, and all the while has more charisma in his finger than most people in Hollywood," he said, as quoted by Variety.

Vin Diesel and Michael Caine have worked together in the 2015 film 'The Last Witch Hunter'. As per Variety, the duo are likely to reunite on the big screen for the film's sequel, reprising their roles as Kaulder (Diesel) and Dolan (Caine).
