Ranchi, June 23 The novel coronavirus situation in Jharkhand was on the mend since the duration in which the number of positive cases was doubling was now 24 days compared with nine days two weeks ago, a senior officer said on Tuesday.

Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) state chief Dr Rakesh Dayal said though the number of coronavirus cases was decreasing there was still need for caution since infections were still getting reported.

As per the Health Department data, the percentage of positive cases in tested samples was 3.11 between June 3 and 10, 2.7 from June 11 to 17, and 2.5 in the last five days.

A health official said 74,886 samples were tested from April till June 3, of which 781 patients were found corona positive. From June 4 to 21, as many as 46,898 samples were tested, of which 1,317 patients tested positive.

The state has so far reported 2,098 cases, of which 1,408 patients have been cured and discharged.
