Several Filipino crew members onboard a French-owned cargo ship were injured in a suspected land -attack cruise missile late Tuesday, May 5, according to CBS News, citing two US officials. The vessel identified as CGM San Antonio is owned by a French firm.

The attack was carried out in the Gulf region near Dubai on Tuesday afternoon. However, it is not verified whether the vessel has moved since then. The UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre (UKMTO) said Tuesday it received a report that "a cargo vessel has been struck by an unknown projectile."

Similar incidents on three other ships in the region, according to UKMTO. The attacks include a fire, a projectile strike and a reported attack by a small craft.

The attack on the ship comes amid tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly a 20% of the world's oil and gas typically flows, and remains at the centre of tensions between the US and Iran.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday asked American military operations in the Strait of Hormuz under "Project Freedom".

"Based on the request of Pakistan and other Countries, the tremendous Military Success that we have had during the Campaign against the Country of Iran and, additionally, the fact that Great Progress has been made toward a Complete and Final Agreement with Representatives of Iran, we have mutually agreed that, while the Blockade will remain in full force and effect, Project Freedom (The Movement of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz) will be paused for a short period of time to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalized and signed," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
