India Can Be a Stable Base for Global Supply Chains, Says Devendra Fadnavis

A democratic nation like India can emerge as a reliable base for global supply chains at a time when geopolitical tensions are disrupting trade routes and supply networks, Devendra Fadnavis said on Saturday. Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the XSIO (Logistics) Advanced Industrial Park in Nagpur, the Maharashtra Chief Minister highlighted how global manufacturing is undergoing a major transformation due to rapid advancements in innovation and automation.

“Advanced manufacturing is becoming the new mantra of this era. The sector is moving to the next level with precision, innovation, sustainability and automation. AI-based technologies are significantly reshaping manufacturing processes,” Fadnavis said. He noted that the manufacturing sector will play a crucial role in India’s economic growth, adding that the country has already become the world’s fourth-largest economy and is on track to become the third-largest in the coming years.

Referring to ongoing geopolitical tensions, including the impact of the Strait of Hormuz crisis, Fadnavis said global supply chains are shifting rapidly and are increasingly being used as strategic tools in international politics. “In such a scenario, a democratic and stable country like India can serve as a dependable base for global supply chains,” he said. Fadnavis also emphasized that projects like the XSIO Advanced Industrial Park will help attract international investment by offering plug-and-play infrastructure and integrated supply chain facilities. Such initiatives, he added, will also support the vision of Narendra Modi to build a developed India under the Viksit Bharat initiative.
