The second wave of corona in the country is now slightly declining. The number of corona patients that have been found daily has been declining over the past few days. However, as the threat of a third wave persists, efforts are being made to speed up the vaccination campaign.

India is currently using two Covid-19 vaccines,--- Serum Institute of India's locally-made Oxford Covid-19 vaccine 'Covishield' and Bharat Biotech's indigenously manufactured Covaxin in vaccination campaigns.

People will have to produce vaccination certificate for travel abroad in future. In this regard, citizens who have taken Covaxin shots might no be able to do international travel. Because mostly countries are either considering vaccines approved by their own regulatory agencies, or those on the WHO’s Emergency Use Listing (EUL).

Serum Institute of India 's Covishield, Moderna, Pfizer,  AstraZeneca,  Sinopharm / BBIP, Janssen (US and Netherlands) have been listed in the World Health Organization's Emergency Use List. Covaxin is not yet on it.

Bharat Biotech has submitted its Expression of Interest to include itself in this list. The World Health Organization said a meeting would be held in May-June. Once Bharat Biotech submits the dossier, it will be considered whether to include Covaxin in the list. There are a few steps to this. Each stage takes a few weeks to complete. No official information has been given by Bharat Biotech regarding this.
