Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 9 Saturday morning, it was a rare meeting of two giants when veteran actor Nana Patekar came calling on legendary film maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan at the latter’s house.

Soon the discussion between the two veterans centered around the films and Patekar explicitly informed Adoor (as he is popularly known) his concern that not once has Adoor invited him to act in any of his film.

The 72-year old triple national award winner said that he has been active in the industry for nearly half a century and never once has Adoor invited him to act in his film.

“I wish he invites me in his next film,” said Patekar with folded hands before Adoor.

Adoor reacted by saying he has never made a Hindi film as that’s a foreign language.

“I am not in a position to say if I will do a film. I cannot say I will not make one. But nevertheless, he (Patekar) has all the looks of a Malayalee,” said Adoor.

Patekar before bidding goodbye to Adoor extended an invite to him to his home in Pune.

The veteran actor was in the capital city as he was the chief guest at the 28th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala which was inaugurated by him on Friday night, here.

The 82 year old Adoor though he has directed just a dozen feature films starting with 'Swayamwaram' in 1972, in his glittering career he has won the national film awards 16 times, 17 Kerala State awards besides numerous international awards and also the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2004.

The country has decorated him with a Padma Shri in 1984 and followed it up with the Padma Vibhushan in 2006.

His last feature film was "Pinneyum" in 2016 and it featured the then popular Mollywood pair of Dileep and Kavya Madhavan.

His career began in 1965 with a 20 minute short fiction film titled "A Great Day" and since then besides directing 12 feature films, he has also done close to 40 short films and documentaries.
