The exhibition, which started on March 23 and will end on September 22, displayed more than 150 authentic artefacts from the Pharaoh's tomb, which belongs to the 18th dynasty.

"The Expo Toutankhamon Paris becomes the most visited exhibition of all time in France with 1,371,476 tickets sold," organizers posted on Twitter.

"A pharaonic thank you to all the visitors who contributed to this historic record, which will forever remain engraved in our memories, just like the memory of the king."

The exhibition exceeded the 1.2 million visitors reached in 1967 at the Petit Palais in France that was dedicated to the same pharaoh, Efe news reported.

The Ministry of Egyptian Antiquities displayed the objects at the Grande Halle de la Villette, taken from the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

According to organizers, more than 50 pieces were transported for the first and last time out of Egypt.

Before arriving in Paris, the pharaonic pieces were exhibited in Los Angeles and still have other places to go before returning to the Egyptian capital in 2024.

The next two destinations are London and Sydney.

The London tour will start on November 2, 2019 until May 3, 2020.

The exposition organizers in Paris have planned an extension of the visiting hours until the exhibition's closure in response to the huge public demand.

Throughout history, three exhibitions had exceeded one million visitors in Paris before the 2019 Tutankhamen's.
