Tehran Residents Struggle for Information Amid Internet Blackout
Residents in Tehran are facing growing anxiety as they struggle to obtain information during an ongoing nationwide internet blackout.
Alireza, a 25-year-old who lives alone in central Tehran, said he kept the front door of his apartment unlocked so he could quickly run to the building’s underground parking if an attack occurred. The city lacks official shelters and early warning systems, adding to the uncertainty among residents.
“I’m going crazy with how many times I’ve had to communicate with friends and family in Tehran and other cities through endless phone calls and text messages to see where and what was hit. There’s hardly any information in this internet shutdown,” he told Al Jazeera.

Israelis Spend Sleepless Nights in Shelters Amid Missile and Drone Attacks
Millions of Israelis spent another sleepless night rushing to shelters as attacks from Iran and Lebanon triggered repeated alarms across the country. In many cases, residents had only moments to reach safety before sirens sounded. Reports suggest Israel’s radar systems may have been affected by the continued missile launches from Iran, reducing the time available to warn civilians before incoming strikes. This has raised concerns about the country’s ability to detect and alert people to new missile launches. Overnight, at least six missiles were fired from Iran, while additional sirens were triggered by threats from Lebanon. Some drones managed to breach Israel’s defence systems and reach areas deep inside the country. Israeli authorities have also warned about new missiles launched from Iran, including ones fitted with fragmented warheads that break apart upon explosion. Israel further claims that Hezbollah has developed a new long-range missile, one of which struck Beit Shemesh, near Jerusalem, two days ago, heightening anxiety among the public.
