In an initiative to raise fund for Leprosy Hospital, an acclaimed photographer, Mukhtar Ahmed along with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), Department of Tourism orgsed a photo exhibition here on Sunday.
The theme of the exhibition was based on Kashmir's age-old culture and tradition which especially attracted youths of the valley who aspire to choose photography as their profession.
"In my 35-year-old career, I have learned a lot of skills which I wish to share with budding photographers. My aim is to make them aware of the new developments in the field of photography. Also, they must know photography is not just about clicking pictures from phone, but to process the photos and get them to the market also comes under the procedure," Ahmed, orgser and photographer, told .
People believe that such unconventional exhibitions need more attention to not just inspire everyone for choosing photography as a serious profession but to also narrate an untold story of a place.
"I believe more promotion is needed for such unconventional exhibitions, which showcases the history of Kashmir with a modern touch. For example, at this photography exhibition there are so many shots of villages, paddy fields, spices and down town's architecture which gives a glimpse of our culture that we have almost forgotten," said Hurain, one of the visitors.
"Also, such exhibitions are like an inspiration for youths which proves that photography can be taken as a full-time thing (job) and not just part-time. Here every photo depicts professionalism in it, how every emotion and random moments have been caught on the camera, it's all very inspiring," she added.
Other than youths, the exhibition also garnered the attention of local and non-local visitors who enthusiastically purchased some attractive portrait depicting the culture, heritage, landscape and village life of Kashmir and Ladakh.
