An aircraft carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar crashed in Baramati on Wednesday morning, January 28. It is being reported that the National Congress Party (NCP) chief is seriously injured.
Rescue operations are currently underway at the crash site. The incident is reported to have occurred during the landing in Baramati. It is also being reported that several people, along withthe Deputy CM, were onboard the aircraft.
Ajit Pawar had boarded a private jet from Mumbai to Baramati on Wednesday morning for a Zilla Parishad elections 2026 meeting. However, while landing on the runway, the aircraft crash-landed due to a reported sudden technical failure, after which the pilot lost control and the plane struck the ground.

A video shared by the news agency ANI shows fire and smoke as the aircraft was fully destroyed. It is said that some employees and security guards who were with him were also injured. All of them were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital.
The exact cause of the plane crash is not yet clear. It is likely that a high-level inquiry will be conducted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to investigate whether it was a technical fault or some other reason.
