In a major rescue operation, all occupants of a car carrying pilgrims from Maharashtra were safely rescued after the vehicle fell into a deep gorge along the Kedarnath National Highway late Saturday evening, officials said.
According to authorities, the accident occurred near the Jurani barrier, located between Guptkashi and Gaurikund. The car reportedly veered off the road and plunged into a gorge approximately 50 metres deep.
Police and rescue teams acted swiftly, managing to pull out all the occupants from the wreckage. The rescued individuals include three women from Maharashtra and the driver.
