Chandrapur Mayor Election Result: BJP’s Sangeeta Khandekar Wins Mayoral Race by One Vote, Defeats Congress Candidate

The Chandrapur Municipal Corporation (CMC), which has been in the news for dramatic developments and controversies, has finally elected a BJP mayor today (February 10). BJP corporator Sangeeta Khandekar defeated the Congress candidate by just one vote.

Of the 66 members of the corporation, two corporators from the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) were absent, while one All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) corporator remained neutral. This brought the majority mark down to 32. Sangeeta Khandekar secured exactly 32 votes, while Congress candidate Sonali Mahadule received 31 votes, losing by a single vote.

BJP’s Sangeeta Khandekar has finally become the Mayor of the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation with the support of Shiv Sena (UBT), despite both parties projecting fierce rivalry at the state level.
