Gadchiroli Encounter: 3 Maoists Killed, One Soldier Martyred During Abujhmad Operation

In an encounter between police and Maoists in the dense forests of Abujmad on the Chhattisgarh border, Gadchiroli Police C-60 commandos killed a Maoist on February 5, while one jawan was injured. The bodies of two more Maoists were later found at the scene, along with an AK-47 and an SLR. However, Jawan Deepak Chinna Madavi, 38, a resident of Damrancha in Aheri, succumbed to his injuries and was declared a martyr.

The operation, underway in the forests of the Fodevada area of Bhamragad taluka since February 3, resumed on the morning of February 6. Security forces recovered the bodies of a female Maoist and a male Maoist. So far, three Maoists have been killed, and one AK-47 rifle and one SLR rifle have been seized. Efforts to identify the deceased Maoists are still ongoing.

C-60 commando Deepak Chinna Madavi was airlifted to the Bhamragad Sub-District Hospital. He died during treatment, leading to widespread grief in the area. Another soldier, Joga Madavi of Kishtayapalli, sustained bullet injuries during the operation. He was evacuated by helicopter, given primary treatment in Bhamragad, and is being shifted to Gadchiroli for further care. Doctors say his condition is stable.

The Abujmad region is extremely remote and densely forested. The search operation has been intensified as Maoists are suspected to still be hiding in the area.
