Kolhapur: A major clash erupted between two rival groups in the 7th Lane of Rajarampuri on Thursday, 26 March, 2026 around 5:00 PM. The incident created a climate of intense terror in the locality, as the attackers chased down several youths while brandishing large knives. The thugs fled the scene the moment the Rajarampuri police arrived. This incident has once again underscored the looming threat of gang warfare in the area.
A dispute has been simmering for the past two to three months between rival gangs based in Temblai Naka and Rajarampuri. On Thursday evening, youths from both factions gathered in the 7th Lane of Rajarampuri in an attempt to resolve the conflict. However, the discussion quickly escalated into a heated argument, which subsequently erupted into a violent brawl between the two gangs.
Following an initial scuffle, members of both sides drew their knives and began chasing one another. The sight of individuals chasing each other while brandishing knives in broad daylight amidst a crowded area instilled a deep sense of fear throughout the locality.
Amidst the heavy vehicular traffic, youths from one of the gangs managed to make their escape. Shortly thereafter, upon the arrival of the Rajarampuri police at the scene, the youths who had gathered there immediately fled. The police are currently working to identify the attackers with the aid of CCTV footage obtained from the surrounding area. As of late Thursday night, no formal complaint regarding this incident had been registered at the Rajarampuri Police Station.
