Maharashtra BJP on Tuesday raised the celebrity tweet matter in Maharashtra assembly. Leader of Opposition & former CM Devendra Fadnavis said, "MVA  government wants to investigate and question those who had tweeted in national interest."

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in reply to Fadnavis said, "Probe ordered against people from BJP IT Cell. 12 people have identified in the matter and probe to be done against them not against Sachin Tendulkar or Lata Mangeshkar."

Anil Deshmukh on Feb 8 had ordered a probe into whether the BJP influenced the tweets done by celebs like Bharat Ratnas Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar, Akshay Kumar, Saina Nehwal and others on the ongoing farmers' protest.

Terming it a "serious" matter, Deshmukh ordered the state Intelligence Department to go into the background of the tweets, many of which were similar in content and even posted at the same time.
