Reservations for the mayoral posts in 29 municipal corporations across the state were announced today. The draw for reservations was declared in the presence of Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal. BJP General Secretary Rajesh Shirwadkar attended the draw on behalf of the BJP, while former Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar and MLA Manoj Jamsutkar were present from the Thackeray faction. From the Nationalist Congress Party, representatives of the Ajit Pawar faction, including Anand Paranjpe, were also present.
With the implementation of the 50 per cent women’s reservation rule, 15 municipal corporations in the state will have women mayors, while the general category will get an opportunity in 14 places. As per the women’s reservation policy, four municipal corporations have been reserved for OBC women, while nine have been reserved for women from the open category. Voting for the 29 municipal corporations was held on January 15, followed by vote counting on January 16. The complete details of reservations announced for each municipal corporation are as follows.

Multi-member ward structure in all municipal corporations except Mumbai:Except for Mumbai, all other municipal corporations in the state follow a multi-member ward structure. Most wards have four members, while some have three or five members. According to available data, voter turnout was 52.94 per cent in Mumbai, 56 per cent in Thane Municipal Corporation, 52 per cent in Pune Municipal Corporation, 58 per cent in Pimpri-Chinchwad, 57 per cent in Navi Mumbai, and 57 per cent in Nashik Municipal Corporation. Parbhani recorded a turnout of 66 per cent, while Jalna saw 61 per cent voting.
