Maharashtra Weather Update: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Mumbai, Thane and Other Districts; Heatwave Conditions Likely
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert on Thursday, March 5, for Mumbai, Thane and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), predicting heatwave conditions during the afternoon. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai (RMC) expected hot and humid conditions at isolated pockets in parts of Maharashtra, including areas of the Konkan region.
Palghar, Thane, and Raigad to witness hot weather conditions during the day, as these areas are under alert. The maximum temperature is likely to be over 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature in the evening is expected to remain at 23 degrees Celsius.

"Hot and Humid weather condition very likely to prevail at isolated pockets in the districts of Konkan-Goa," RMC in a post on X. Mumbai reported a ‘satisfactory’ category Air Quality Index (AQI) on Thursday of 82.

Maharashtra recorded above normal daytime temperatures on Thursday, indicating the continuation of warm weather conditions across the state. The Colaba observatory of IMD recorded a temperature of 35.7 degrees Celsius, which is 4.5 degrees above the seasonal normal, while the Santacruz observatory reported a higher maximum temperature of 38.7 degrees Celsius, which is 5.7 degrees above the normal level.
Several cities in Maharashtra recorded high daytime temperatures on Tuesday. Jalgaon reported a maximum of 38 degrees Celsius, while Solapur registered 38.4 degrees Celsius. Aurangabad and Malegaon both recorded 36.8 degrees Celsius.

Coastal areas also saw warm conditions. Dahanu reported a maximum temperature of 36.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23.4 degrees Celsius. Ratnagiri recorded a maximum of 36.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22.1 degrees Celsius. In Nashik, the maximum temperature stood at 36 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 15.8 degrees Celsius. Parbhani reached 37.2 degrees Celsius during the day, while Sangli recorded 36.9 degrees Celsius.
Kolhapur reported a maximum temperature of 35.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius. Mahabaleshwar remained cooler compared with the rest of the state, with a maximum of 29.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 18.4 degrees Celsius.
