Maharashtra government has alleged that cornavirus vaccines are not being supplied as per requirement in Maharashtra. Due to unavailability of stock, many COVID vaccination centres in Mumbai were temporarily closed. Meanwhile, vaccines are not available in many centres in Mumbai.

A gathering of people were seen outside Mumbai's BKC Jumbo vaccination centre following its closure after vaccines ran out of stock on Friday.

However it is being said that stock of 2 lakh 20 thousand vaccines will be available soon. Therefore, vaccination will continue on Saturday, Sunday, even on the weekend lockdown.

However, until the issue of vaccine shortage is resolved, only those who have registered and received the message of vaccination will get the dose. Mayor Kishori Pednekar clarified that only those who take second dose will be given priority.

Mumbai is currently vaccinating health workers, frontline workers, senior citizens, those with ailments and all citizens above 45 years of age. While the vaccination campaign is showing signs of slowing down, Mumbai will now get one lakh 80 thousand doses of Covishield vaccine and 46 thousand 630 doses of Covaxin vaccine.

However, citizens are flocking outside the centers in large numbers for vaccination. Therefore, it will be necessary to complete the registration process to take Covid vaccine dose.

Pednekar also advised that only those who have received the message of vaccination should go to the center. She also clarified that the second dose will be given priority now. Even if there is a complete lockdown on Saturdays and Sundays, it will be possible to travel with the message of vaccination, for which the police will also cooperate.
