Mumbai: Residents of Hiranandani Estate Society allege they were given fake 'Covishield' vaccine

Mumbai Police has detained two people in coonection with Kandivali's Hiranandani Estate Society vaccination matter.

The residents of the society have claimed that they were the victims of an elaborate “vaccination scam”, in which they were given fake Covid-19 shots. On May 30, the housing society conducted vaccination drive for it's residents where at least 390 people received Covishield vaccines inside the society premises.

According to the residents, a facilitator identified as Rajesh Pandey, got in touch with society committee members who claimed to be a representative of Kokilaben Ambani Hospital. The vaccination camp was co-ordinated by one Sanjay Gupta, while a third person, Mahendra Singh, collected the money in cash from the residents of the society.

The residents paid Rs 1260 for each dose and around 390 people received the jab, the society paid around Rs 5 lakh to the facilitator.

Ater the drive was completed, the residents did not receive any messages. Moreover they were not even allowed to take photos or selfies while getting vaccinated.

The residents got suspicious when none of the persons developed any symptoms after taking the jab. They did not even got their certificate. The residents received certificate after 10-15 days.

According to Mumbai Police Sources, probe over Hiranandani Estate Society vaccination matter is on, but initial findings suggest that beneficiaries of the vaccination received their certificates with different date and location.

The vaccination certificates were from different hospitals like Nanavati, Lifeline, Nesco BMC vaccination center etc. When contacted, these hospitals denied ever providing vaccines to the housing society in question.
