Shirdi Parikrama Festival Live: The spiritual journey, also known as Shirdi Parikrama, has begun in Shirdi from Khandoba Temple. This barefoot walk reflects Sai Baba’s teachings and draws thousands of devotees who have reached their final stage. Green Clean Shirdi Foundation, the Sai Baba Sansthan, the Shirdi Municipal Council and residents of Shirdi have made extensive arrangements to welcome the devotees across Maharashtra, India.
The main highlight of this year’s Parikrama will be a grand procession arriving from Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh, featuring Sai Baba’s golden chariot, umbrella, chamar, flag and holy chadar. In addition, a Tandav dance troupe from Indore, a traditional musical troupe from Kerala and a Damru troupe will join the event. Local citizens, students, Lezim and Pavli groups, a Sambal troupe, various floats and bhajan groups will further enhance the devotional atmosphere.

The city of Shirdi has been decorated to receive the devotees, and the entire Parikrama route has been adorned with flowers. Beautiful rangolis and welcome arches have been set up at several points. Villagers themselves will stand along the route to greet Sai devotees. Since the Parikrama coincides with Ekadashi, special measures have been taken to avoid inconvenience. Sabudana khichdi, fruits, tea, snacks and drinking water will be distributed at over 100 points along the route by social organisations and local residents.
The Green Clean Foundation and the police administration have made detailed arrangements to manage the crowd. About 500 volunteers have been deployed. Watchtowers have been installed at different locations, and drone cameras will monitor the crowd from above. Separate mobile toilets for men and women, first-aid centres and ambulances have been positioned along the route.
After the Parikrama concludes, the Saibaba Sansthan Trustees will distribute Prasad and Udi to devotees. The main concluding ceremony will take place at the Shatabdi Mandap. Water Resources Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Dr Sujay Vikhe Patil, Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj of Sarla Island and Mahant Kashikanand Maharaj are expected to attend.
The organisers and villagers of the Green Clean Shirdi Foundation have appealed to Sai devotees to participate in the Parikrama in large numbers and maintain discipline throughout the event.
The Route and Significance of Key Stops:
1. Sai Baba’s Samadhi Mandir: The parikrama often begins with a visit to the Samadhi Mandir, where Sai Baba's relics are preserved, and His physical body rests. This is the heart of Shirdi, the most revered spot for devotees, where they offer their prayers, bow in respect, and feel Sai Baba’s divine energy.
2. Dwarkamai: The parikrama route includes a stop at Dwarkamai, the mosque where Sai Baba lived, meditated, and interacted with His devotees. It is the place where He performed countless miracles and imparted wisdom to His followers. This stop is significant because it represents Sai Baba's compassion and love for all humanity.
3. Chavadi: Chavadi is another important spot on the parikrama route, where Sai Baba used to sleep alternately with Dwarkamai. It symbolizes His simple and humble life. Devotees visiting Chavadi remember Baba’s teachings of simplicity, humility, and selfless service.
4. Gurusthan: Gurusthan, located near the Samadhi Mandir, is where Sai Baba first appeared in Shirdi in the form of a young boy under a neem tree. This spot is immensely sacred, and devotees believe it to be the place where Sai Baba’s spiritual energy first manifested in Shirdi.
5. Lendi Bagh: The Lendi Bagh is another significant spot where Sai Baba spent hours meditating and walking in solitude. The parikrama passes through this tranquil garden, a symbol of Sai Baba’s deep connection with nature and His spiritual practices.
6. Other Sites: The route of the parikrama also takes devotees past various smaller shrines, memorials, and places linked with Sai Baba’s teachings, providing moments for reflection, prayer, and a deeper connection to His life and message.
Significance of Shirdi Parikrama:
The Shirdi Parikrama is a deeply symbolic act of walking in the footsteps of Sai Baba. By walking around the town, devotees seek to purify their hearts, build faith, and experience the divine presence of Sai Baba in every corner of the town.
