Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray reiterated his claim that the Ganga was polluted during the Maha Kumbh Mela, stating, "I will not drink water from the Ganga." This statement has drawn criticism from the BJP, with Nitesh Rane challenging Thackeray to question religious practices during Ramadan and Bakri Eid if he truly has the courage to do so.

Raj Thackeray recently criticised the pollution of the Ganga while speaking about the holy water brought from the Kumbh Mela. Without taking names, he questioned the BJP's campaign to clean the river and even refused to drink the Gangajal brought by Bala Nandgaonkar. In response, BJP MLA Nitesh Rane launched a strong attack on Thackeray, accusing him of selective criticism.

Rane said, "Raj Sahib has incomplete information about the cleanliness drive- Namo Gange under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. No one has the right to insult the Hindu religion. I have never seen him question the sacrifice of goats during Bakr-Eid..."

He asked why all questions were asked to Hindus and not to other communities. Rane challenged Raj Thackeray to raise his questions on Bakri Eid and Ramzan Eid. Rane stated, "During Eid, when goats are slaughtered and dirty water is released, no one raises any objections. On Mohammad Ali Road, after eating and drinking during Ramadan, garbage is dumped on the streets, yet no one questions it. Are all questions reserved only for the Hindu community?"
