Indian Coast Guard ship and helicopter undertook successful rescue of all 16 crew on Thursday from sinking MV Mangalam near Revdanda port in Raigarh district of Maharashtra.

On Thursday morning, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre got a call from Second officer of Indian flagged MV Mangalam (IMO-9084619) telling that the vessel was partially sinking with 16 crew onboard in around 3 kms near Revdanda Jetty (Raigarh District), wherein the master was planning to abandon the vessel. The Master intimated that crew were in panic due water ingress. MRCC team asked them to remain onboard as Coast Guard ship was being deployed. Indian Coast Guard Ship Subhadra Kumari Chauhan sailed out from Dighi harbour and proceeded towards distressed vessel for rendering assistance. Meanwhile, two ICG helicopters were also launched from ICG Air station Daman for evacuation of crew from MV Mangalam.

The ICG Search and Rescue Units (SRUs) successfully rescued 16 crew from distressed vessel. The rescued crew were taken to Revdanda and administered first aid.
