‘Will be Killed like Baba Siddique’: Former Shiv Sena Leader From Kalyan Mahesh Gaikwad Receives Death Threat
Mahesh Gaikwad, former leader of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena in Kalyan, was allegedly sent a threatening letter by an unknown person during a pre-wedding ceremony in Ambernath. The incident took place in the Anandnagar area of Ambernath, where Gaikwad attended the event. Initially, Gaikwad did not pay much attention to the letter, as he often receives correspondence from locals regarding various complaints.
However, upon opening the letter on March 8 (Saturday), Gaikwad discovered it contained a direct threat. Alarmed by the contents, he approached the Shivaji Nagar Police Station in Ambernath to file a formal complaint. Following his complaint, the police registered a non-cognizable (NC) offense against the unidentified person, and an investigation has been launched.
According to ACP Shailesh Kale of the Ambernath division, "Based on the letter and the complaint, we have filed an NC under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. We are conducting further investigations into the matter." The letter warned Gaikwad not to harass Ganpat Gaikwad and Vaibhav Gaikwad, with the threat of dire consequences if the warning was ignored.
In a startling claim to the media, Mahesh Gaikwad suggested that the threatening letter was sent from jail. The letter specifically warned him against speaking out against Ganpat Gaikwad and Vaibhav Gaikwad, alleging that failure to comply would lead to consequences similar to those faced by Baba Siddique. This incident follows a previous altercation in which Ganpat Gaikwad, a BJP legislator from Kalyan East, reportedly fired shots at Shiv Sena (Shinde) Kalyan East president Mahesh Gaikwad and his associate Rahul Patil inside the Hill Line Police Station in Ulhasnagar last year. The police have yet to confirm the identity of the person behind the threat, and investigations are ongoing.
