Anganewadi Jatra 2026 on February 9: Konkan Railway Announces List of Special Trains From Mumbai to Madgaon For Bharadi Devi Yatra

The Bharadi Devi Anganewadi fair, a major place of faith for lakhs of devotees, will be held with great enthusiasm on February 9. Anticipating a surge in the number of devotees arriving from Mumbai and other parts of the country, Konkan Railway has announced the operation of a weekly special train for the occasion. The annual Anganewadi Jatra, held at the renowned Bharadi Devi temple in Anganewadi village of Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district, will be celebrated on February 9, 2026. Every year, the fair draws lakhs of devotees from across the state. More than a million people are expected to visit Anganewadi to witness the jatra and seek the blessings of Goddess Bharadi, revered as the Earth Goddess. Devotees believe that having darshan of the Goddess, adorned with traditional attire and ornaments in the divine form known as ‘Yachi Dehi, Yachi Doola’, offers a deeper understanding of the true meaning of life.

Special train schedule and route:-

LTT (Mumbai) to Madgaon:
The special train will run on February 8 and 10. It will depart from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 7:55 am and reach Madgaon at 10:00 pm on the same day.

Important information for passengers:
Reservations for this special train have begun from today at all railway reservation counters and on the IRCTC website. Additionally, the state transport corporation has arranged extra buses between Kanakavali and Kudal railway stations and Anganewadi. Shared rickshaw services will also be available.

Religious significance of the fair:
The Anganewadi fair does not depend on any fixed date in the calendar. Every year in December, members of the Angane family and traditional custodians seek a divine indication (kaul) from Bharadi Devi. Only after receiving the deity’s approval is the date of the fair decided. According to the kaul performed on December 3 2025, this year the fair will take place on February 9, 2026. An estimated 5 to 7 lakh devotees are expected to attend the one-and-a-half-day-long event.

Every year, Indian Railways announces special trains for Anganewadi Jatra. Last year, Central Railway (CR) had announced five special trains from Mumbai CSMT to Karmali and from Karmali to CSMT, also from Sawantwadi Road to Panvel, Sawantwadi Road to Lokmanya Tilak (LT).
