In a significant political development ahead of the Legislative Council elections in Maharashtra, former minister and Prahar Sanghatana leader Bachchu Kadu has merged his organisation with Shiv Sena and formally joined the party in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Mumbai. Kadu’s induction came after a condition was placed that he would be considered for a Legislative Council opportunity if he joined Shiv Sena. After holding discussions with his supporters and party workers, Kadu decided to accept the party’s symbol and align with Shiv Sena, marking a notable shift in the state’s political landscape.

Speaking at the induction ceremony held in Mumbai, Bachchu Kadu stated that the Prahar Sanghatana would now continue to function as a social organisation while he works through Shiv Sena to address the issues of farmers and persons with disabilities. He emphasised that his decision to join the party was not driven by a desire for a legislative position but by the commitment to resolve the concerns of ordinary citizens. Kadu assured that although the party flag has changed, the agenda remains the same. He also pledged to strengthen Shiv Sena and expand its presence across Maharashtra under Eknath Shinde’s leadership.

Welcoming Kadu into the party, Eknath Shinde described him as a dedicated grassroots leader known for his relentless work for the common people, farmers, and the differently-abled. Shinde highlighted Kadu’s history of leading strong protests and movements, including campaigns for farmers’ loan waivers, which eventually saw success. He noted that Kadu had worked for 25 years through the Prahar Sanghatana and has now returned “home” to Shiv Sena. Shinde stressed that addressing public issues often requires the strength of governance and said their alliance is rooted in shared ideology and commitment to justice for the underprivileged.

Shinde further stated that Bachchu Kadu would play a crucial role in expanding Shiv Sena across Maharashtra, while the Prahar Sanghatana would gain further strength in its social initiatives. He recalled that during his tenure as Chief Minister, a dedicated ministry for persons with disabilities was established, benefiting many. Assuring full support, Shinde said he stands firmly behind efforts to address the concerns of the poor and marginalised. He reiterated that promises made in politics must be honoured and expressed confidence that Kadu’s entry would strengthen the party’s mission to reach every village, ensuring wider representation and justice for common citizens.
