Commuters traveling on Mumbai-Nashik Highway were stuck for hours due to traffic jam near Bhiwandi on Thursday, February 13, 2026. Congestion was 2 to 3 kilometres long brought vehicular movement to a crawl . This snarls was  severe on particularly Nashik-to-Mumbai carriageway, causing inconvenience. According to FPJ reports, the major reason behind bottleneck as the incomplete flyover and bridge construction.

The Rajnoli to Piplas stretch, which includes a service road, narrows from five lanes to two, causing significant congestion, especially during peak hours. Heavy traffic jams affected stretch forces heavy vehicles to slow down, exacerbating the situation. Truck breakdowns further compounded the traffic chaos, leading to long queues and commuters stuck for extended periods.

The gridlock also disrupted emergency services, delaying ambulances and raising concerns about access to critical medical assistance. Local residents cite the ongoing infrastructure work as the cause of recurring congestion. According to Senior Traffic Police Inspector Sudhakar Yadav, the Mumbai–Nashik Highway narrows from five lanes to two between Rajnoli and Pimplas, and multiple bridge construction projects are increasing traffic pressure and impacting essential services.
