The Kharghar resident has to come back after repeated calls from Mumbai police and a notice served requiring his presence for questioning as a witness in the defamation case lodged against stand-up comedian related the recent incident.
The banker was called by Kharghar police in the case about Kamra's recent video shot at the Habitat studio in Mumbai. In it, he criticized Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for calling him "gaddar." The video was released on YouTube on March 24, 2025, after which Shiv Sena workers vandalised the studio in Kharghar, where the show was shot and recorded.
The Sena workers also filed an FIR against Kamra, due to which the banker received a call from the Khar police on March 28 and a notice on his WhatsApp on March 29 under section 179 of the CrPC requesting his presence the following day.
According to the TOI report, the banker left Mumbai on March 21 for the trip planned until April 6, but he was forced to return after repeated police calls while he was in Tamil Nadu on vacation. "The officer who called me was sceptical about my out-of-town status and threatened to visit my Kharghar residence. This prompted me to cut short my trip and return early," the banker told TOI.
The banker said that police alleged that he might have edited the video for Kamra, which was recorded in the Habitat Club in Khar. "Despite me saying that I had booked a ticket for the show online and that I had proof of booking, the cops said I might have edited the video Kamra has recorded. Why will the comedian hand over his show's video to me (for editing)?"

Police have recorded the statements of the cameraperson who recorded the video and statements of other staffers who were present when the video was shot on February 2, 2025. The police have promised that they will provide full security to Kamra when he appears before them in Mumbai after Shiv Sena workers said that the party would welcome him to Mumbai in 'Sena Style.'
According to the report, nearly 70 people attended the show at Habitat Club. However, during the investigation, police withheld information on the total number of audience members who had been served notices under Section 179 of the CrPC.
