A shocking incident of molestation involving a 13-year-old minor girl has come to light in Mumbai’s Bhandup area, where the father of the girl’s close friend allegedly outraged her modesty during a birthday celebration. The Bhandup Police have arrested the 46-year-old accused and booked him under relevant sections for molestation along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He has been remanded to police custody by a special POCSO court.
According to the police, the complainant, a 43-year-old woman, resides in the Mulund area with her family. The victim is her 13-year-old daughter, who is a close friend of the accused’s daughter. On January 12, the victim had gone with her friend and her family to a hotel in Nahur to attend the friend’s birthday party.
At around 10.30 pm, the accused allegedly made obscene advances towards the minor and molested her. He is accused of touching her inappropriately on her chest and attempting to get physically close to her.
After returning home, the girl narrated the incident to her mother, who was left shocked. When the complainant confronted the accused, he reportedly got into an argument with her and abused her verbally.
Following the incident, the complainant approached the Bhandup Police Station and informed the police about the matter. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case against the accused under sections related to molestation and the POCSO Act. The accused was arrested on Tuesday and produced before a special POCSO court, which granted police custody.
The incident, involving a minor being molested by her friend’s father, has triggered strong outrage among local residents.
