A shocking incident has come to light from Jogeshwari, where a 32-year-old Ola driver, Sarfaraz Shahjahan Ansari, was brutally assaulted by two brothers who accused him of tipping off the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) about MD drugs.

According to police, the accused — Abrar Sabir Pathan alias Abrar Khan and Nazir Sabir Pathan alias Nazir Khan — allegedly attacked Ansari with kicks, punches, and a blade in a murderous assault. The Meghwadi Police have registered a case against both under charges including attempt to murder and other relevant sections.

Nazir Pathan has been arrested and is currently in police custody, while his brother Abrar is absconding. Police have launched a manhunt to trace him. Officials revealed that Abrar has multiple criminal cases registered against him, including murder, attempt to murder, assault, criminal intimidation, and drug trafficking.

Sarfaraz Ansari, a resident of Jogeshwari, works as a driver with Ola and was acquainted with Abrar, who also resides in the same locality. Abrar is known to have a history of criminal activities and had earlier been externed by the Meghwadi Police due to his rising criminal involvement. He was also allegedly active in MD drug trafficking cases.

In 2021, officials from the Narcotics Control Bureau had conducted a raid at Abrar’s residence, during which a large quantity of MD drugs and cash were seized. He was subsequently arrested and had been in jail in connection with the case. Recently, he was released on bail.

Police said that after his release, Abrar allegedly resumed creating fear in the locality. On Monday around 11:30 PM, Sarfaraz Ansari was chatting with friends near Big Boss Salon, close to Swami School in Jogeshwari, when Abrar arrived at the spot. He reportedly stared angrily at Ansari while smoking a cigarette. Shortly after, his brother Nazir also joined him.

The duo confronted Ansari, accusing him of informing the NCB about their drug activities. They allegedly abused him, issued death threats, and declared they would “finish him” before launching a brutal assault.

The accused reportedly attacked Ansari with a blade and a razor, leaving him seriously injured. When bystanders gathered, the attackers threatened them and fled the scene.

Ansari sustained severe injuries to his head, neck, and face. Local residents rushed him to a trauma care hospital in Jogeshwari, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Upon receiving information, Meghwadi Police reached the spot and registered an FIR based on Ansari’s complaint. Nazir was arrested within hours and later produced in court, which remanded him to police custody.

Abrar has been declared a wanted accused, and efforts are underway to apprehend him. Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack was carried out in retaliation for the alleged tip-off to NCB officials regarding drug trafficking activities.
