Mumbai: 27-Year-Old Biker Killed in Hit-and-Run Incident in Goregaon
A 27-year-old biker, identified as Arif Ziauddin Sheikh, lost his life after being hit by a speeding motorcycle in Goregaon on Saturday evening. The accused biker fled the scene without providing any medical assistance or informing the police.
According to the Goregaon Police, a case has been registered against the unidentified accused for rash and negligent driving leading to death. The police have obtained the registration number of the accused’s motorcycle and have launched a search to trace him.
The accident occurred between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm near Mithagar, Shastri Nagar Road No. 1, in front of Wellness Medical in Goregaon. The victim’s father, 65-year-old Ziauddin Ikram Sheikh, is a resident of Goregaon and works in sari embroidery. Arif worked at Carnival Mall and is survived by his wife and children, who had gone to her parental home in Goregaon for Eid.
On Saturday morning, Arif had left for work as usual at around 10:30 am. While returning home in the evening, his bike was rammed by a speeding motorcycle near Mithagar. He sustained severe head injuries in the crash.
The accused biker fled the spot immediately after the accident, leaving the injured victim unattended. A passing autorickshaw driver noticed the incident and rushed Arif to a trauma care hospital in Jogeshwari, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Upon receiving information, Goregaon Police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, a case has been registered, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the absconding accused.
