Mumbai: 30-Year-Old Candidate Collapses, Dies at Railway Police Recruitment Drive in Ghatkopar
In a tragic incident, a 30-year-old aspirant died during the Railway Police recruitment process at Ghatkopar on Monday. The candidate collapsed shortly after completing the 1,600-metre running test and was later declared dead during treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Akshay Misal (30), a resident of Buldhana district. He had aspired to join the Railway Police force. After facing failure in two previous attempts, Misal had applied for the recruitment drive for the third time this year and had come to Mumbai to appear for the physical test.
According to police officials, the field trials were underway on Monday morning at the Railway Police ground in Ghatkopar East. At around 10 am, after completing the 1,600-metre run, Misal sat down on one side of the ground. Moments later, he reportedly felt dizzy and collapsed.
He was immediately rushed to Rajawadi Hospital, where doctors declared him dead while undergoing treatment.
Upon receiving information, officials from Pant Nagar Police Station reached the spot and registered a case of accidental death. Police said no foul play has been suspected in the preliminary investigation.
The exact cause of death will be ascertained after the post-mortem report is received, officials added.
The incident has sparked concern among other candidates participating in the recruitment process, who expressed grief over the unfortunate event.
