Mumbai: 40-Year-Old Man Murdered in Dadar Over Old Rivalry, Six Arrested

A 40-year-old man was mercilessly beaten to death in Mumbai’s Dadar locality on the night of April 12, reportedly due to a long-standing personal feud. The shocking incident occurred at around 9:30 pm and took place in full public view, adding to the gravity of the crime. What made the situation even more distressing was that the assault happened in front of the victim’s wife, leaving her traumatized. The brutality of the attack and the circumstances under which it unfolded have sparked widespread concern, with residents expressing anger and fear over the rising incidents of violent disputes in the city.

The victim has been identified as Ankush Amborkar, a local resident. Police said Amborkar had gone to Dadar to meet a friend when he was confronted by his rival, Gaurav Sanas, reported the Free Press Journal. The confrontation reportedly began as a heated argument but quickly spiraled out of control. Sanas, along with several associates, allegedly launched a violent attack on Amborkar. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the group assaulted him repeatedly, showing little restraint, and continued the attack despite his deteriorating condition, ultimately leading to fatal consequences.

At the time of the incident, Amborkar’s wife was on duty as a security guard near the Siddhivinayak Temple in Prabhadevi. Upon receiving information about the attack, she rushed to the scene along with her colleagues. In a desperate attempt to save her husband, she intervened and managed to pull him away from the attackers. However, he had already suffered severe injuries. A large crowd gathered at the spot as the situation escalated, prompting the accused to flee. Police arrived soon after being alerted and immediately took Amborkar to KEM Hospital, where doctors declared him dead before admission.

Following the incident, the victim’s wife lodged a formal complaint at the Dadar police station. Based on her statement, a case was registered against Gaurav Sanas and his accomplices. Police have so far arrested six individuals in connection with the murder. Initial investigations indicate that the attack was rooted in a long-standing personal rivalry between Amborkar and Sanas. The two were previously involved in a banjo business partnership in Dadar but separated in 2017 after disagreements, which reportedly led to ongoing hostility and frequent conflicts between them over the years.

According to the victim’s wife, Sanas had harboured resentment against Amborkar for a long time and had allegedly issued threats and taunts on multiple occasions. She also revealed that there had been earlier instances of assault, for which complaints were previously filed with the police. Authorities are now closely examining the chain of events leading to the murder and assessing the involvement of each accused. Investigators are also reviewing whether earlier complaints were properly addressed. Officials have assured that strict action will be taken against all those found guilty as the probe continues.
