A 55-year-old woman died after being hit by a crane in Mumbai’s Tardeo area on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Sangita Kamble. Following the incident, Tardeo Police arrested crane driver Kamlesh Dhusai Yadav, who was later released, officials said.

The accident took place between 11:30 am and 11:45 am near Bellasis Bridge in Tardeo. Sangita’s son, Chandrakant Namdev Kamble, works as a labourer and currently resides in the Tardeo area. Sangita was employed as a sanitation worker.

According to police, Sangita was resting near Bellasis Bridge around 11:30 am when a passing crane allegedly hit her with force. The crane reportedly ran over her leg, leaving her critically injured.

After receiving information, Tardeo Police rushed to the spot and shifted her to Nair Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Based on the complaint lodged by Chandrakant Kamble, police registered a case against crane driver Kamlesh Yadav for causing death due to negligent driving. He was later arrested in connection with the case.

Police said Kamlesh is originally from Ghazipur district in Uttar Pradesh and is currently residing near Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Tardeo.
