Mumbai Accident: 4-Year-Old Boy in Serious Condition, Father Injured After Speeding Shivshahi Bus Hits Scooter in Parel
A 4-year-old boy is in serious condition at the hospital, and his father received multiple injuries in a road accident that took place in the Parel area of Mumbai on February 4. The injured child, identified as Athang Tawd,e is currently receiving treatment atthe Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of KEM hospital.
The accident took place in the Lalbaug area on Wednesday, February 4, when Athang was returning home from school with his father on a scooter. According to the complaint filed by the child’s father, Mandar Tawde, they were riding towards Lalbaug. After descending the Parel bridge, they stopped at the signal near the Central Railway Workshop. With barely 10 to 15 seconds left for the signal to turn green, a speeding Shivshahi bus rammed into their motorcycle from behind.
The bus, a Shivshahi vehicle (registration: MH09 EM 8639), was being driven by Shyamrao Nathrao Nagargoje. The family has alleged that the driver was negligent and lost control of the bus, causing the accident.
The child, Athang, sustained severe injuries and is currently being treated in the hospital’s PICU. Mandar Tawde was also injured and is undergoing medical treatment and physiotherapy.
Meanwhile, the Shivshahi bus driver was arrested but later released on bail. The incident has sparked anger among local residents, who are demanding strict action against the responsible driver.
