In a temporary move to enhance passenger convenience and regulate traffic flow, Western Railway on Sunday introduced changes to two important train services running between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. As per an official release, the terminal point of the Karnavati Express will be shifted from Mumbai Central railway station to Bandra Terminus on a temporary basis. This operational adjustment is aimed at better managing station congestion and ensuring smoother train movement. Officials stated that the change is part of routine planning measures undertaken to maintain efficiency across busy routes and provide a more seamless travel experience for passengers during the specified period.

According to railway authorities, train numbers 12933 and 12934, popularly known as the Karnavati Express operating between Mumbai and Vatva/Ahmedabad, will now originate from and terminate at Bandra Terminus. This arrangement will be effective for journeys scheduled from April 1 to April 27, 2026. The updated schedule mentions that train number 12933 will depart Bandra Terminus at 1:55 pm, while train number 12934 will reach the station at 12:30 pm. Officials have clarified that there will be no alterations in timings at intermediate stations, and the train’s halts and overall schedule will continue unchanged apart from the revised terminal point.

In a separate development, Western Railway has also decided to temporarily increase the capacity of the Vande Bharat Express running on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad route. At present, train numbers 22961 and 22962 operate with a 16-coach configuration. However, to address rising passenger demand on this heavily used corridor, the train will be upgraded to a 20-coach rake. The additional four coaches will be attached for trips scheduled between April 1 and April 27, 2026. This enhancement is expected to significantly improve seat availability and reduce waiting lists for passengers travelling between the two major cities.

Railway officials noted that these temporary changes are part of ongoing operational strategies designed to handle increasing passenger volumes efficiently. By redistributing train terminals and boosting carrying capacity, authorities aim to ease congestion and improve overall service quality. Passengers have been advised to verify their boarding stations and updated travel details before commencing their journey to avoid any confusion. The railway administration has also urged commuters to stay informed through official announcements and plan their trips accordingly during this adjustment period to ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience.
