Mumbai: BEST Bus Mounts Road Divider on 90-Feet Road in Dharavi (Watch Video)

A video widely shared on social media has drawn attention to a troubling road incident in Mumbai’s Sion-Dharavi area, where a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus was found perched on a road divider. The unusual scene reportedly unfolded along the busy 90-Feet Road in Dharavi, causing concern among local residents and commuters. Eyewitnesses described moments of panic as the large public transport vehicle appeared stuck in a precarious position, prompting onlookers to gather and assess the situation. The visuals quickly went viral online, highlighting the potential risks such incidents pose in densely populated urban zones like Dharavi.

As per information shared by the Instagram page ‘discoveryofmaharashtranews’, the bus was operating on route number 341 between Goregaon East and Antop Hill when it allegedly went out of control. Although the exact cause of the mishap is still unclear, the video shows the bus awkwardly balanced with its wheels on both sides of the divider. Locals present at the scene were seen stepping in to assist the driver, offering directions to help safely bring the vehicle down. Fortunately, the bus was reportedly carrying very few passengers at the time, and no injuries have been recorded in connection with the incident.

Authorities have not yet released an official explanation regarding what led to the accident, including whether any mechanical fault was involved. The incident follows closely on the heels of a similar occurrence reported on March 26 in Lower Parel near Kamala Mills Compound, where another BEST bus had climbed onto a divider and caused traffic disruptions during peak hours. Preliminary findings in that case suggested the driver may have lost control, though a comprehensive report is still pending. These back-to-back episodes have sparked concerns over operational safety within the city’s public transport network.

Frequent reports of such mishaps have intensified scrutiny over road safety measures, vehicle upkeep, and driver preparedness in Mumbai’s public transport system. Citizens and daily commuters are increasingly voicing their concerns, urging transport authorities to implement stricter inspections and accountability mechanisms. Many believe that regular maintenance checks and enhanced driver training programs are essential to prevent similar incidents in the future. The recurring nature of these events has underscored the need for immediate corrective action to ensure commuter safety and restore confidence in the city’s bus services.
