Mumbai Crime: Man Bludgeoned to Death With Stone in Churchgate; Police Suspect Known Person’s Role
In a shocking incident, a 55-year-old man, identified as Rahul Panjwani alias Punjabi, was allegedly murdered by an unidentified assailant in Tata Garden on Veer Nariman Road in Churchgate. The victim was bludgeoned to death with a stone. While the exact motive behind the murder remains unclear, police suspect the involvement of someone known to the victim.
According to police sources, Police Sub-Inspector Janardan Ramchandra Jadhav, who is currently posted at Azad Maidan Police Station and resides in the Colaba police quarters, was on day duty on Saturday. At around 5 pm, he received information from the Mumbai Police control room about a man lying in a pool of blood inside Tata Garden near the bus depot on Veer Nariman Road.
Acting swiftly, PSI Jadhav and his team rushed to the spot, where they found a man aged between 50 and 55 years lying unconscious in a pool of blood. The injured man was immediately shifted to a nearby government hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
During the preliminary investigation, the deceased was identified as Rahul Panjwani alias Punjabi. Police revealed that he was attacked with a stone by an unknown individual, who fled the scene after committing the crime. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination.
Following the incident, Azad Maidan Police have registered a case of murder against an unknown Accused. Although the motive is yet to be established, investigators suspect that the accused may be someone acquainted with the victim. Police have seized CCTV footage from the surrounding area and are scanning it to trace the Accused.
Further investigation is underway.
