Mumbai Horror: School Peon Allegedly Arrested for Inappropriately Touching 6-Year-Old Student in Govandi

Even as outrage continues over the Naspur rape and murder case, another disturbing case of sexual assault has been reported from Govandi. A 45-year-old school peon has been arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching a six-year-old student, police said As per the reports of TV9 Marathi, the accused identified as Rajesh Mahakal has been misbehaving with the child for the past year. He allegedly took the child to an empty room inside the school premises and touched him inappropriately.

Following a complaint filed by the family of a child who reported an assault, Govandi police arrested a school peon under the POCSO Act. This incident echoes a similar case from a few months prior, where Malad police arrested a 35-year-old man on February 6 for allegedly molesting a 4-year-old student at a private school in Malad West on January 12.

A school peon was arrested under the POCSO Act after a child reported the incident to her parents, who then notified the police. The court remanded the peon to one day of police custody. Separately, police filed a case against the school trustee for withholding CCTV footage and delaying notification to the police.
