Millions of commuters travel every day on Mumbai local trains. It is often described as the city’s lifeline. However, amid the constant rush and heavy crowds, unexpected incidents can occur at any moment. A ticket checker (TC), without caring for his own safety, pulled an elderly passenger away from a moving train and rescued him from the hands of death at Kurla station. A spine-chilling video of the incident is now going viral on social media. Sensing the gravity of the situation, a TC who was on duty at the station reacted instantly and rushed towards the elderly man without wasting a single second. CCTV footage clearly shows the TC using all his strength to pull the passenger away and bring him safely onto the platform.

What exactly happened?
According to available information, the incident took place when a Thane–CSMT local train arrived at Kurla station. As the train was coming to a halt, an elderly passenger attempted to get down from the moving train. Due to his advanced age and the overwhelming crowd of passengers, he suddenly lost his balance and began to fall towards the moving train. The TC saw him fall and immediately rushed to save his life.
As soon as the video surfaced online, social media users showered praise on the TC. Many expressed that such vigilant railway staff are the true safety shield for passengers travelling on Mumbai’s local trains. The railway administration also commended the employee’s bravery, calling it a fine example of both proper safety training and humanity in action.
