Mumbai News: Five Accused of Attacking Traffic Cop During Drunk Driving Check in Khar

Mumbai: Bandra traffic department police constable allegedly got assaulted by drunken scooter rider and his accomplices took place in Khardanda, Khar west on May 10. In connection to this the Khar police have registered case against the five people including Dharmenath Chimbaikar, Vaishali Bala, and three unidentified women for allegedly obstructing government work, assaulting and threatening a public servant.

Victim identified as Anil Mahajan, 32, was managing traffic on Turner Road to Carter Road in Khar West on Saturday when he was allegedly hit by a scooter near Khala Maidan around 6:30 pm. The scooter rider, identified as Chimbaikar, allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol when questioned. After being asked to pull over, Chimbaikar allegedly called for backup. Three women and another man arrived and allegedly began verbally abusing Mahajan, accusing him of extortion.

One of the women allegedly pulled at Mahajan’s pants, breaking a button on his uniform, and assaulted him. Mahajan called for assistance, and with the help of Khar Beat Marshals, all the accused were taken into custody. Chimbaikar, a resident of Chimbai Koliwada in Bandra West, was found to have 42.1 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood and did not possess a valid driver's license.

A case has been registered at Khar Police Station, and the investigation is ongoing.
