Several locations across Mumbai received threatening emails on Thursday, triggering a security alert in the city. The emails mentioned key establishments including the Bombay Stock Exchange, Bombay High Court, metro services and banks, warning of bomb and missile attacks at these sites.
According to police sources, security agencies immediately initiated precautionary measures after receiving the threats. Police teams launched search operations at the premises mentioned in the emails, while the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was also deployed at the locations.
However, officials said that no suspicious objects have been found so far during the searches.
Police officers are currently verifying the authenticity of the threatening emails and conducting a detailed investigation into the matter.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Praveen Munde said that similar threat emails were received on Thursday morning by the Bombay Stock Exchange, Vidhan Bhavan and the Bombay High Court.
He added that adequate security arrangements have been put in place and necessary legal action is being initiated at the concerned police stations.
