Mumbai-Pune Expressway Missing Link Row: Viral Reel Shot By Worker Sparks Major Safety Concerns
A shocking incident has raised serious concerns over safety measures at the ambitious Mumbai-Pune Expressway Missing Link project after a reel filmed by a worker at the construction site went viral on social media. The video has triggered outrage among citizens, with many questioning the alleged negligence in safety supervision by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). The incident has sparked fears that the reckless act could have endangered not only the workers involved but also hundreds of commuters travelling on the busy expressway below.
Construction work on a massive 180-foot-high bridge is currently underway as part of the Mumbai-Pune Missing Link project. Cranes and suspended trolleys are being used for the work at the elevated site. In the viral reel, a worker can reportedly be seen filming himself while sitting inside a narrow trolley hanging hundreds of feet above the ground. The video also shows four to five workers standing inside the suspended structure while work continues. Beneath the bridge, vehicles can be seen moving at high speed on the expressway, making the act appear even more dangerous and irresponsible.
The viral clip has raised alarming questions about what could have happened if the workers had lost concentration even for a moment while recording the reel. A minor mishap involving the suspended trolley could have led to a catastrophic accident on the bridge or on the vehicles passing below. The bridge is situated above a deep valley, and the constant movement of traffic has added to concerns that the stunt-like behaviour could have risked the lives of innocent travellers as well as the workers themselves.
The incident has also put the spotlight on the safety monitoring system at the project site. Questions are now being asked about whether any responsible officers were present to supervise the work and enforce safety protocols. Citizens have also questioned the private contractor handling the project, asking whether workers were permitted to use mobile phones during such high-risk operations. Critics argue that such negligence at a project being monitored by a major authority like MSRDC is extremely serious and reflects poor enforcement of safety regulations.
Adding to the anger among commuters is the fact that highway police reportedly take strict action against motorists who stop on the bridge for photographs or selfies in the interest of public safety. Citizens are now questioning why similar strictness is not being applied to workers allegedly violating safety norms while carrying out dangerous activities at the same location. Many social media users have accused the authorities of ignoring reckless behaviour that could have had fatal consequences.
Following the circulation of the reel online, criticism against the administration and the contractor has intensified. Citizens are now waiting to see what action will be taken against the worker who filmed the video and the company responsible for safety at the site. Many have demanded stricter monitoring and immediate corrective measures from MSRDC to prevent such incidents in the future. Concerns are also being raised that if a major accident occurs due to such negligence, fixing responsibility later may become impossible.
